MUMBAI: Personal service Air India on Monday commenced the industrial operations of its first wide-body A350 plane with a flight taking off for Chennai from the Mumbai airport.
The 316-seater A350-900 plane has a three-class cabin configuration with 28 non-public enterprise suites with full-flat beds, 24 premium financial system and 264 financial system seats.
“Air India flight AI-589 took off from Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Worldwide Airport on Monday for Chennai, with a full-capacity load of passengers,” the airline stated in a press release.
The plane will initially fly on home routes — Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, and Mumbai — for crew familiarisation and regulatory compliance.
It would later be deployed for long-haul flights to locations throughout continents, strengthening Air India’s rising wide-body fleet, comprising its personal and lately leased plane, the airline stated.
The primary of Air India’s personal 20 Airbus A350-900 plane, registered VT-JRA, arrived at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi Worldwide Airport late final month from Airbus’ Toulouse manufacturing facility in France.
The induction of the A350 in Air India’s fleet is part of the airline’s 470 new plane order that it positioned early final yr.
