KUWAIT: Kuwait’s thirteenth Municipal Council elections happen on Saturday in yet one more manifestation of democracy and a lift to position of civil society in growth and development within the Arab Gulf nation. Dawood Al-Saleh was elected as chairman. The turnout on this election was 67.6 %. Elections for the sixth Municipal Council have been held on October 4, 1993, the primary following the liberation of Kuwait. Turnout was 47.9 % and Mohammad Al-Shaye was elected as chairman. Nevertheless, an Amiri Decree was issued on December 11, 1994 that dissolved the council. Elections for the seventh Municipal Council, which noticed a turnout of 54.1 %, have been held on June 6, 1995. Abdulrahman Al-Houti was named chairman.
The eighth Municipal Council was elected on June 9, 1999. Turnout was 61.3 %. Ahmad Al-Adsani was elected chairman of council. The following elections for the eleventh Council have been held on September 28, 2013. On Could 12, 2018, elections for the twelfth Municipal Council happened, Osama Al-Otaibi was elected as council chairman. Girls certainly ran for Municipal Council elections however have been unfortunate. Nevertheless, the federal government appointed feminine members.
