(JTA) — Eli Rosenbaum, a Justice Division veteran recognized for his work monitoring and deporting former Nazis residing in the USA, will lead a workforce working to establish and prosecute individuals liable for alleged warfare crimes in Ukraine.
Lawyer Common Merrick Garland introduced the appointment in an announcement on Tuesday, whereas in Ukraine.
“There isn’t a hiding place for warfare criminals. The U.S. Justice Division will pursue each avenue of accountability for individuals who commit warfare crimes and different atrocities in Ukraine,” Garland wrote within the information launch.
Rosenbaum will lead the DOJ’s Struggle Crimes Accountability Group. Beginning in 1979, Rosenbaum had led a workforce via the Workplace of Particular Investigations, or OSI, that over many years deported over 95 warfare criminals and their allies.
Amid reviews of warfare crimes by Russian troopers because the invasion continues, Rosenbaum is anticipated to work with each home and worldwide places of work relating to crimes over which the USA has jurisdiction, together with the killing of American journalists.
