Union House Minister Amit Shah on Friday requested the Assam authorities to plan a long-term plan to guard the northeastern state from flood for many years in order that extra growth can happen.

The state authorities should take all steps, together with enacting a legislation for the safety of reservoirs and a mechanism for enforcement, he stated.
