A tsunami advisory was issued late Thursday morning by the Meteorological Company following a 6.6 magnitude earthquake within the western Pacific Ocean, with the company forecasting waves of as much as 1 meter in peak for islands within the Izu chain.
Waves of as much as 0.2 meters are forecast to succeed in an space stretching from Chiba Prefecture within the east to Kagoshima Prefecture within the west.
The quake struck at 11 a.m. close to Torishima within the Izu island chain at a depth of 10 kilometers.
Folks in coastal areas and close to river mouths are suggested to retreat to greater floor.
