Tokyo and Washington will carefully coordinate a timeline for resuming flights of V-22 Osprey tilt-rotor plane in Japan, the U.S. navy and Japanese Protection Ministry mentioned Friday, greater than three months after a lethal crash of the controversial plane off Kagoshima Prefecture.
The U.S. Naval Air Methods Command (NAVAIR) issued the worldwide flight clearance for the V-22 Osprey, saying in a press release that the choice “follows a meticulous and data-driven method prioritizing the security of our aircrews.”
The Nov. 29 crash into waters close to Kagoshima’s Yakushima island — the primary deadly crash of the Osprey in Japan and the deadliest worldwide for the reason that plane entered service in 2007 — rekindled considerations in Tokyo over the Osprey’s security.
