AJK PM Anwarul Haq opts to face no-confidence motion as PPP claims majority support

Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwarul Haq has determined to face the approaching no-confidence movement moderately than resign from workplace.

The choice got here after consultations along with his authorized and political advisers, regardless of the Pakistan Folks’s Occasion (PPP) asserting that it had secured the mandatory votes to unseat him.

In keeping with sources, whereas the PPP has not but formally submitted the movement within the AJK Legislative Meeting, preparations are underway to convene the session throughout the subsequent 24 hours. Administrative preparations have been finalized, and meeting employees are current on the secretariat.

Thus far, the PPP has not introduced its candidate for the prime minister’s slot. Nonetheless, Hassan Ibrahim, the lone member of the Jammu & Kashmir Peoples Occasion, has joined palms with the opposition, aligning with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

Within the 52-member AJK Legislative Meeting, 27 votes are required to elect or take away the prime minister. The PPP at the moment instructions 27 votes, whereas the PML-N holds 9 seats, giving the opposition a transparent numerical benefit if the movement proceeds.
