Syria’s Ministry of Vitality signed remaining agreements on Thursday with a consortium of worldwide firms, led by the Qatari-based UCC Holding, to construct 4 new energy crops with a complete capability of 5,000 megawatts. The crops will use a mix of pure gasoline and photo voltaic vitality.

Based on an announcement from the Ministry on its Telegram channel, the initiatives embrace the development of a 1,200-megawatt plant in northern Aleppo, two crops in Deir Ezzor and Zayzoun with a capability of 1,000 megawatts every, and an 800-megawatt plant in Mahardah. As well as, a sequence of photo voltaic vitality initiatives, totaling 1,000 megawatts, will probably be developed throughout 4 completely different places.

This venture marks one of many largest strategic vitality initiatives in Syria since 2011 and is a part of the Ministry’s broader plan to rehabilitate the nationwide electrical energy grid, enhance operational effectivity, and make sure the sustainable stability of the ability provide.

Vitality Minister Mohammad al-Bashir, in an announcement following the signing, known as the venture a significant milestone within the improvement of Syria’s vitality infrastructure. He emphasised that the venture would “strengthen nationwide vitality safety, stabilize {the electrical} grid, and open the door to extra worldwide investments in sustainable improvement initiatives.”
