THATTA: A contemporary energy breakdown hit the Dhabeji pumping station on Sunday morning, halting operations within the second section and disrupting a key provide line, the Karachi Water & Sewerage Company (KWSC) stated.
Karachi might face a shortfall of 100 million gallons of water per day (MGD) as a result of closure of the pumps and the affected line, a KWSC spokesperson stated, detailing that the fault occurred at 6:35am after a sudden electrical energy outage hit the second section.
The metropolis’s major water supply, the Dhabeji pumping station, depends closely on secure energy, with even quick outages inflicting instantaneous provide disruptions.
In line with the spokesperson, the breakdown pressured the shutdown of two pumps, leading to lowered discharge from Line No 5. “The road was straight impacted when energy was suspended,” the official added.
Water Company groups have been instantly deployed to the positioning and are finishing up repairs on an emergency foundation.
The Dhabeji system has confronted recurring technical points in current weeks. “On November 5, the Ok-III pump home remained non-operational for 36 hours as a result of a cable fault,” the spokesperson concluded.
