LAHORE: Amid ongoing crackdown towards the proscribed Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), the Punjab authorities has shaped 12 joint investigation groups (JITs) to probe circumstances towards the banned social gathering.

A notification issued by the provincial House Division stated seven JITs will examine the circumstances in Lahore, whereas 5 will cater to these registered in Sheikhupura.

The JITs, which embody representatives of the police, Counter -Terrorism Division (CTD) and intelligence companies, will look into circumstances registered below terrorism and different critical provisions.

The event is available in response to the request for JITs by the police which have stated that greater than 2,000 miscreants belonging to the TLP have been arrested in relation to 75 circumstances towards the proscribed social gathering.

The event is to be taken towards the backdrop of the federal authorities’s resolution to declare the TLP a proscribed outfit below the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) final month.

In the meantime, CM Maryam directed the authorities to abstain from disturbing the imams and preserve respect, and additional ordered all deputy commissioners to take steps for the everlasting implementation of the ban on wall chalking and stated that wall chalking won’t be tolerated in any metropolis of Punjab.
