SOCIAL CIRCLE, Ga. — Incumbent Taylor Morris has secured one other time period as chair of the Social Circle Metropolis Colleges Board of Training.

Morris gained in a Dec. 2 runoff election after incomes 52.15% of the votes. In response to the unofficial and incomplete outcomes* supplied by the Walton County Elections Workplace, Morris earned 352 votes.

Her opponent within the runoff, Chadwick McGuire, acquired 323 votes (47.85%). 

A complete of 675 votes had been solid: 299 made within the advance voting interval, 369 dwell on the polls on Dec. 2 and 7 absentee ballots despatched in by mail. McGuire outnumbered Morris on the day-of voting in a 202-167 margin. However Morris had the sting prematurely voting with 189 votes to McGuire’s 117.

An area actual property agent and mom of youngsters enrolled in Social Circle Metropolis Colleges, Morris has served as chair since August 2023. The board appointed her in a unanimous vote after the resignation of her predecessor, John Callahan.

Morris, the incumbent to the seat, was initially challenged by each McGuire and Seneca Ellison. On Election Day in early November, Morris secured 439 votes to McGuire’s 434, with Ellison trailing at 69.

To assert the victory, a single candidate wanted to safe over the 50% mark. With Ellison receiving some reasonable assist, no candidate hit the required threshold, resulting in Tuesday’s runoff.
