MALAYSIA: A 62-year-old man suspected of producing dozens of improvised explosive gadgets has been remanded for seven days following his arrest in reference to a blast in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan.

The suspect, recognized as Yeoh Hock Solar, also referred to as Ayang, was detained in a weakened and injured state close to Mantin on Dec 27 after a public tip-off.

He had been on the run since an early-morning explosion on Dec 22 within the Desa Palma condo parking space, believed to have occurred whereas he was dealing with a tool inside a Proton Wira automobile.

Police searches uncovered 31 IEDs in his rented shophouse, which appeared to function a makeshift laboratory, together with elements together with timers, sensors, nails, iron balls, blade items, isopropyl alcohol, sulphur and carbon.

All gadgets had been safely destroyed by the bomb disposal unit, with assessments revealing a possible blast radius of 20 metres and fragments travelling as much as 30 metres. Extra suspected explosives had been discovered on his individual throughout arrest.

Investigators imagine Yeoh, from Kelantan with a background in chemistry and probably pharmaceutical work, acted alone and possesses specialised information in explosives. He has a previous prison report for threats.

The remand order, issued on Dec 28 at Tuanku Jaafar Hospital, the place he stays below remedy, runs till Jan 3. The case falls below the Corrosive and Explosive Substances Act and Penal Code provisions for mischief by explosion.
