New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday congratulated Indian Grandmasters Humpy Koneru and Arjun Erigaisi for successful bronze within the open part of the FIDE World Speedy Chess Championship, held in Doha.

Erigaisi claimed a historic bronze medal on the FIDE World Speedy Championship in Doha, scoring 9.5 factors—only one level behind world champion Magnus Carlsen. Along with his bronze medal, he grew to become solely the second Indian male participant, after five-time world champion Viswanathan Anand, to safe a podium end at a World Speedy Championship.
