Yemen’s STC Rejects Order Calling for Withdrawal of UAE Forces 

Yemen’s Southern Transitional Council (STC) on Tuesday rejected orders issued by Presidential Management Council Chairman Rashad al-Alimi calling for the withdrawal of United Arab Emirates forces, as tensions intensified following a latest strike by Saudi-led forces. 

Al-Alimi earlier introduced the cancellation of a joint protection settlement with the UAE and instructed Emirati forces to go away Yemen inside 24 hours. He additionally declared a nationwide state of emergency for 90 days and ordered a 72-hour suspension of air, land, and sea motion in any respect ports and border crossings.  

The choices got here after the Saudi-led coalition carried out what it described as a restricted operation on the port of Mukalla focusing on weapons and armored automobiles unloaded from ships that had arrived with out authorization. 

In response, the STC issued a press release along with 4 members of the presidential council rejecting what it described as unilateral selections that would drag Yemen into renewed confrontations and hurt relations with regional companions.
