
The caretaker cupboard for Gilgit-Baltistan has been formally constituted, with the issuance of an official notification approving the appointment of 12 ministers and two advisors.
In keeping with the notification, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, in his capability as Chairman of the Gilgit-Baltistan Council, authorised the formation of the caretaker cupboard on the recommendation of the caretaker Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan. The appointments had been made underneath Article 48-A of the Gilgit-Baltistan Order, 2018.
The notification states that 12 members have been appointed as caretaker ministers, whereas two members have been designated as advisors within the caretaker setup. The newly shaped caretaker cupboard will take impact instantly.
The notification was issued on January 2, 2026, and bears the signature of Joint Secretary Gilgit-Baltistan Council, Sudher Khan Khattak.
