It additional said that marriage, divorce, inheritance, live-in relationships and associated provisions have been included within the UCC.

“This legislation units the wedding age for each women and men and supplies uniform and stringent provisions for divorce and different procedures throughout all religions. The implementation of the UCC has freed girls from dangerous practices akin to polygamy,” the assertion mentioned.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami described the implementation of the UCC as a “historic and brave” step.

“Implementing the UCC in Uttarakhand is a historic and brave resolution by the state authorities. The target of the UCC shouldn’t be towards any group, however to offer equal rights, equal alternatives, and equal respect to all residents,” he mentioned.

He mentioned that the numerous improve in marriage registrations reveals that the general public has accepted this legislation and views it as a social reform.
