Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesia will pursue a non‑everlasting seat on the United Nations Safety Council (UNSC) for the 2029–2030 time period, International Affairs Minister Sugiono introduced.

He emphasised that the choice displays Indonesia’s robust perception in multilateralism and its dedication to strengthening and reforming worldwide establishments such because the United Nations (UN).

“It’s on this foundation that Indonesia is as soon as once more bidding for a non‑everlasting seat on the United Nations Safety Council for the 2029–2030 interval,” Sugiono acknowledged through the 2026 Annual International Minister’s Press Assertion in Jakarta on Wednesday.

The minister famous that whereas multilateralism has demonstrated its effectiveness and direct impression on individuals’s lives, it now faces severe challenges.

He warned that the worldwide governance system is lagging behind quickly evolving geopolitical, financial, and safety realities.

Sugiono highlighted that Indonesia’s candidacy isn’t about status, however about making certain the UNSC stays purposeful amid mounting world pressures.
