The Supreme Courtroom has confirmed a decrease courtroom ruling in favor of the state in a damages lawsuit filed by 27 youngsters of hibakusha in Hiroshima.
The highest courtroom’s First Petty Bench issued the choice on Thursday.
Within the lawsuit, the plaintiffs claimed that the exclusion of hibakusha youngsters from the hibakusha help legislation was unconstitutional.
In February 2023, Hiroshima District Courtroom dismissed the lawsuit, noting that parliament had discretion over the legislation’s protection. Hiroshima Excessive Courtroom upheld the ruling in December 2024.
In January 2025, the highest courtroom rejected an identical lawsuit filed by youngsters of hibakusha in Nagasaki.
