
NEWTON COUNTY – A person was arrested on Sunday night time following a site visitors pursuit on I-20 and a manhunt within the quick space.
Based on a story from the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), officers tried to cease a silver Chevrolet HHR for rushing and a tag violation on I-20 West close to mile marker 92. The person reportedly refused to tug over, which led to a pursuit.
Throughout the pursuit, a GSP trooper made three makes an attempt to carry out a Precision Immobilization Approach (PIT) maneuver. The final try was profitable, with the person’s automobile putting the median wall, in keeping with the GSP’s narrative.
This led to an on-foot chase.
“The violator then exited his automobile and fled on foot, crossing over the median wall and the east lanes of Interstate 20 earlier than working into a close-by wooden line,” in keeping with a GSP narrative.
The Newton County Sheriff’s Workplace and the Covington Police Division responded to the scene and created a barrier. Finally, the person was apprehended at 5:46 p.m., the GSP mentioned.
Authorities haven’t publicly recognized the person and it isn’t clear what prices they face.
