PARIS: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Schooling (the Oman Nationwide Fee for Schooling, Tradition and Science) and the Ministry of Tradition, Sports activities and Youth, participated on Tuesday within the nineteenth session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safety and Promotion of the Range of Cultural Expressions.

Organised by the United Nations Academic, Scientific and Cultural Group (Unesco), the conferences are being held from February 17 to twenty on the organisation’s headquarters within the French capital, Paris.

The session includes the participation of States Events to the Conference on the Safety and Promotion of the Range of Cultural Expressions who aren’t members of the Intergovernmental Committee. Oman’s participation underscores its dedication to supporting worldwide efforts geared toward safeguarding cultural range, selling cultural and artistic industries, empowering artists and creators, and creating nationwide cultural insurance policies that hold tempo with fast shifts within the digital surroundings.

The session addressed a number of key subjects, most notably the implementation of the Conference inside the digital surroundings and a overview of related operational pointers. Discussions additionally explored potential authorized choices to boost the safety of cultural content material in digital areas. Moreover, the Committee reviewed the Secretariat’s report on the implementation of its 2025 selections and its work plan for the 2026–2027 interval, alongside the outcomes of the celebrations marking the twentieth anniversary of the Conference’s adoption.

The conferences additional included discussions on the implementation report of Article 16 relating to preferential therapy for creating nations, an analysis of the Worldwide Fund for Cultural Range’s efficiency, and the approval of recent initiatives underneath the sixteenth cycle of funding requests, which contribute to supporting cultural initiatives in creating nations.

Members emphasised the significance of integrating worldwide efforts to strengthen the presence of nationwide cultures within the digital surroundings and the need of offering versatile legislative frameworks that defend cultural range and guarantee equitable entry to digital markets and platforms. – ONA
