Toxic red tide alert raised in Zamboanga Peninsula, Eastern Samar
PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur — The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Sources (BFAR) has sounded the alarm on the presence of poisonous crimson tide in some coastal waters within the nation, warning residents towards consuming shellfish harvested from affected areas. In its newest Shellfish Bulletin No. 04, Sequence of 2026, the BFAR confirmed constructive paralytic shellfish poison ranges in Dumanquillas Bay in Zamboanga del Sur, Tantanang Bay in Zamboanga Sibugay, and Matarinao Bay in Japanese Samar.
