4 civilians have been killed and a five-year-old baby was critically injured after mortar fireplace from throughout the border struck a village in Bajaur district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (Ok-P) on Sunday, Data Minister Attaullah Tarar mentioned.

In an announcement posted on X, he mentioned the assault occurred at round 3pm when Afghan Taliban forces fired artillery and mortar shells into the civilian space from throughout the border.

Tarar mentioned Pakistani forces had responded to the assault. “A befitting and aggressive response is being given to the Afghan Taliban regime positions and infrastructure answerable for this dastardly act,” he added.

The minister mentioned the 4 victims — Sajid, Ayaz, Riaz and Muaz — have been brothers. He added that residents of the world strongly condemned the assault and expressed anger over the focusing on of civilians.

“This cowardly and heinous deliberate focusing on of civilians by Afghan Taliban regime in cohorts with terrorists organisation Fitna-al-Khawarij shouldn’t be solely a grevious violation of worldwide legislation and fundamental human values but in addition reflective of their deep frustration and desperation whereas dealing with heavy setbacks on a number of fronts by the Armed Forces of Pakistan by way of focused assaults on terrorists and assist infrastructures as a part of operation Ghazab Lil Haq,” he mentioned.

Earlier within the day whereas sharing particulars of Operation Ghazab-Lil-Haq, Tarar mentioned the armed forces had performed in a single day strikes focusing on terrorist hideouts in Kandahar and the Chitral sector, destroying a tunnel, technical infrastructure, and gear storage services utilized by the Afghan Taliban and Fitna-al-Khawarij.

Operation Ghazab Lil Haq was launched final month following renewed clashes alongside the Pakistan–Afghanistan border, after Afghan Taliban forces fired on a number of areas, prompting swift navy retaliation by Pakistan.

The neighbouring international locations have been engaged in escalating hostilities alongside the frontier since then. The clashes intensified after Afghanistan launched a border offensive in response to earlier Pakistani air strikes focusing on terrorist positions.
