BRITOL AND GP CERTIFIED DRIVE A REVOLUTIONARY SHIFT WITH THE INTRODUCTION OF CERTIFIED RECYCLED PLASTICS IN FMCG PACKAGING

In a revolutionary step in the direction of sustainable manufacturing, decreasing plastic air pollution and creating native jobs,, Britol and the  Antler Group of Corporations  partnered with GP Licensed to combine licensed recycled plastics into large-scale manufacturing of their merchandise.

This initiative marks a major milestone within the plastics and recycling business. Most manufacturers in Sri Lanka use virgin plastics to supply their plastic packaging – all the things from a shampoo to a rest room bowl cleaner is packaged in a bottle made with plastic that’s imported, used as soon as and discarded. Marking an impactful departure from enterprise as normal, the Antler Group of Corporations now makes use of protected, ethically produced and cost-effective GP Licensed recycled plastics to exchange as much as 40% of the imported virgin with regionally recycled plastics in a few of their Britol vary of merchandise. .

Talking on the milestone, Ms Ashani Jayasinghe, the Chairman at Antler Group of Corporations acknowledged that “For over 4 many years, sustainability has guided Antler’s journey, shaping how we innovate, manufacture and lead. By means of the GP Licensed programme, Antler and Island Local weather Initiative is setting new requirements. An ordinary that allows producers, companions and communities, to participate in a round environmentally accountable system.”

Echoing this sentiment, Mr. Chaminda Rajapakse, Managing Director of GP Licensed, expressed: “This partnership with Antler represents a essential step in mainstreaming licensed recycled plastics throughout the FMCG sector. This milestone immediately helps the rollout of Prolonged Producer Accountability (EPR) in Sri Lanka by offering FMCG corporations with a reputable, native compliance pathway. GP Licensed permits manufacturers like Britol to fulfill EPR obligations by way of verified recycled content material, traceability, and accountable downstream processing, decreasing reliance on offsets or non-circular disposal. By linking compliant producers with licensed recyclers, GP Certification helps translate EPR from a regulatory requirement right into a sensible, scalable market mechanism that strengthens home recycling and closes the loop.”

This collaboration underscores the shared imaginative and prescient of GP Licensed and Antler to drive the round financial system ahead, inspiring industries to embrace licensed recycled supplies as the brand new norm.

This initiative was supported by the PLEASE venture which was funded by the World Financial institution and carried out by the South Asia Co-operative Setting Program (SACEP).
