PM for upgradation of railways infrastructure spurring economic, industrial growth

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, on Wednesday, underlined the necessity to rebuild railway infrastructure throughout the nation on sustainable foundations to assist financial and industrial progress.

He stated that modernizing the railway system is a key element of nationwide coverage geared toward enhancing regional commerce and connectivity.

The prime minister chaired a gathering of the Pakistan Railways steering committee on the PM Home.

The assembly was attended by Minister for Financial Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema, Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi, Minister for Finance Muhammad Aurangzeb, Minister of State for Finance and Railways Bilal Azhar Kayani, and related senior officers, the PM Workplace Media Wing stated in a press launch.

Addressing the members, the prime minister stated that Pakistan Railways served because the spine of the nation’s economic system and communication community.

He directed authorities to improve freight amenities, noting that within the present regional context, rail-based cargo transport grew to become important for saving gasoline and making certain environment friendly motion of products.

Officers briefed the assembly on ongoing reforms in Pakistan Railways. It was shared that freight providers have been anticipated to develop by 21 % this yr.

The assembly was knowledgeable that work on the Karachi–Rohri part of the Principal Line-1 (ML-1) undertaking was underway with assist from the Asian Growth Financial institution. Engineering design, environmental area surveys, and land acquisition processes have been at the moment in progress.

Members have been additional knowledgeable that 57 % of the Thar rail connectivity undertaking had been accomplished.

In the meantime, the upgradation of the Rohri–Nokundi part of Principal Line-3 (ML-3) was described as a vital initiative for transporting minerals from Balochistan. A design guide had already been employed, and the PC-1 was finalized.

The assembly additionally reviewed progress on digitalization inside Pakistan Railways, together with the introduction of cellular functions, cashless ticketing, and free Wi-Fi at railway stations.

Moreover, methods equivalent to freight administration methods, digital weighing bridges, and rolling inventory monitoring have improved the standard and transparency of freight providers.
