“Two communal events got here and gheraoed the judicial officers. They then fled. In the meantime the native youths are being harassed. Within the identify of NIA probe, they’re arresting 40–50 youths. We are able to’t even protest. Nobody can submit deputation to the Election Fee. They’ve choked all voices,” Banerjee mentioned whereas addressing a rally at Manikchak in Malda.

On Wednesday, seven judicial officers appointed by the Calcutta Excessive Courtroom had been gheraoed by a big mob at Kaliachak over deletion of names from the electoral roll after the Particular Intensive Revision in poll-bound West Bengal.

The ECI on Thursday handed over the probe to the NIA, following a Supreme Courtroom directive.

“If Muslims are dangerous then why does PM Modi hug & dine with the leaders of the Arab world? BJP tortures individuals. It’s an anti-woman social gathering. They’re completely in opposition to Bengal,” she mentioned at one other rally in Gazole.

Banerjee, who has been addressing public rallies in varied districts over the previous ten days as a part of her election marketing campaign, held her first roadshow within the English Bazar space within the district.

“I’m difficult Union dwelling minister Amit Shah to carry a gathering right here and meet these individuals whose names have been wrongfully deleted. You instruct individuals to delete Muslim voters from all over the place,” she mentioned.

Malda, a bordering and Muslim-majority district, has the second-highest variety of circumstances underneath adjudication by judicial officers after Murshidabad. Whereas there are 11,01,145 such circumstances in Murshidabad, Malda, with 8,28,127 circumstances, comes second.

“Don’t fall for any provocation. They wish to create hassle and get 30–40 individuals arrested from each space. That is occurring in Malda. Harmless individuals are getting arrested. NIA, CBI, ED, BSF & CISF are underneath Mota Bhai’s management,” she mentioned at Manikchak.

In the meantime, the chief minister ordered a probe after a drone was noticed within the sky earlier than her chopper may take off after a rally at Malatipur in Malda. Police later mentioned three individuals had been being questioned.

The BJP hit again, saying that Banerjee was making baseless allegations as she is aware of that the TMC won’t return to energy this time.

“These are all baseless allegations. She is aware of she’s going to lose and therefore is attempting to provide you with such narratives. She is attempting to play the sufferer card and divert consideration,” mentioned BJP chief Rahul Sinha.
