Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesia’s Hajj and Umrah minister mentioned preparations for the 2026 pilgrimage are practically full, with the primary group of pilgrims scheduled to depart for Saudi Arabia on April 22.

“Preparations are virtually 100%. Visas have been issued, and preparations resembling catering have been finalized,” Minister Mochamad Irfan Yusuf mentioned at a press convention in Jakarta on Tuesday.

The primary group of Indonesian pilgrims is about to enter Hajj dormitories on April 21 earlier than departing a day later, he mentioned.

“God prepared, the primary group will enter the dormitory on April 21 and depart for Saudi Arabia on April 22,” Yusuf added.

He expressed appreciation to Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for his or her assist in facilitating Indonesia’s Hajj preparations.

Amid ongoing tensions within the Center East, the minister voiced hope that regional instability wouldn’t disrupt the pilgrimage course of.

“We hope the unfavorable state of affairs within the Center East is not going to have an effect on preparations and departures of our pilgrims,” he mentioned.

He acknowledged that the state of affairs has created logistical challenges, together with a pointy rise in gas prices that has practically doubled in some circumstances.

Yusuf urged all events to ease tensions to make sure the Hajj pilgrimage can proceed easily.

“We hope tensions could be decreased in order that Hajj rituals could be carried out solemnly worldwide,” he mentioned.
