
NEWTON COUNTY — A collision between an SUV and a dump truck left two youngsters severely injured.
The crash occurred on Friday afternoon on the intersection of State Route (SR) 36 and Lackey Highway. In line with preliminary findings from the Georgia State Patrol, a dump truck touring south on SR-36 collided with a Chevrolet Traverse that was getting into the intersection after touring west on Lackey Highway.
The GSP says that the 18-year-old driver of the Traverse didn’t correctly yield to oncoming visitors, resulting in the collision.
“A Chevrolet Traverse was touring west on Lackey Highway and was stopped at its intersection with State Route 36,” in response to preliminary findings from the GSP. “This intersection is managed by cease indicators for visitors on Lackey Highway solely. The motive force of the Traverse did not yield and traveled into the intersection, the place it was struck by the dump truck.”
The GSP added that each autos left the roadway on the western shoulder of the freeway.
The motive force of the Traverse and a 13-year-old passenger have been severely injured. The motive force was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital whereas the passenger was taken to Arthur M. Clean Hospital.
The motive force of the dump truck suffered minor accidents and was not hospitalized.
