WASHINGTON, D.C. – Present District 120 State Rep. Houston Gaines (R-Athens) has scored a key endorsement in his marketing campaign to succeed Mike Collins because the District 10 consultant for Georgia in Washington, D.C.
On Tuesday at 2:41 p.m., President Donald Trump took to Reality Social to formally endorse Gaines in his push for the District 10 seat – which incorporates elements of Newton County.
“It’s my Nice Honor to endorse Extremely Revered State Consultant Houston Gaines, who’s working to characterize the Unimaginable Individuals of Georgia’s tenth Congressional District,” Trump wrote on Reality Social, partially.
Gaines accepted the endorsement, reposting the president’s phrases throughout his personal social media.
“Thanks, Mr. President! We are going to by no means allow you to or the tenth district down. I am honored to have your assist,” Gaines wrote.
Gaines is dealing with political newcomers Ryan Millsap and Jeff Baker within the Republican major. If he secures the Republican nomination, Gaines will face off towards a Democratic nominee in November.
Collins, the present consultant, issued the same sentiment of assist shortly after Trump’s announcement.
“The President has made a superb alternative,” Collins wrote on X. “The tenth District will probably be in nice fingers with Houston Gaines!”
Gaines was first elected to the State Home in 2018 and assumed workplace in 2019. He’s represented Oconee, Clarke, Jackson and Barrow Counties below the Gold Dome.
In his candidate qualifying info, Gaines listed himself as a Clarke County resident. He describes himself as a “born and raised” Athens native on his marketing campaign web site.
Professionally, Gaines described his occupation as “small enterprise improvement” in his qualifying info. His marketing campaign website specifies him working with Carter Engineering in Oconee County.
Gaines touts being an eighth-generation northeast Georgian – one thing Trump reiterated in his Reality Social endorsement.
