Vietnamese monk Ven. Pannakara arrives in Sri Lanka for state-backed Walk for Peace

Seven Buddhist monks led by Vietnamese nationwide Venerable Pannakara Thero arrived in Sri Lanka early this morning (April 21) to participate within the state-sponsored “Stroll for Peace” programme, which will likely be held from immediately till April 28, 2026.

The internationally recognised peace stroll is being held in Sri Lanka beneath full state patronage, with help from numerous state and personal establishments, together with the Presidential Secretariat, the Clear Sri Lanka programme, the Ministry of Buddhasasana, Non secular and Cultural Affairs, the Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Native Authorities, the Tri-Forces and Police, in addition to the Nationwide Design Centre.

The monks, together with Ven. Pannakara Thero, arrived at Bandaranaike Worldwide Airport in Katunayake from Dallas Fort Value Worldwide Airport in Texas, United States. A passenger named Aloka, recognized as a rescue canine, additionally arrived in Sri Lanka with the delegation.

The procession, led by Ven. Pannakara Thero along with the Maha Sangha, is about to hold a sacred Bodhi sapling obtained from the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi in Anuradhapura.

In parallel with the peace march, a particular spiritual providing ceremony will start immediately at 3:00 PM on the sacred grounds of the Ruwanweli Maha Seya.
