The Georgia Environmental Safety Division (EPD) declared a state-wide Drought Response Stage 1 Monday as a result of dry climate impacts on water sources.
The Stage 1 Drought Response requires notification of the general public that Newton County is below drought situations.
Residents are inspired to examine for leaks and restore them as wanted, water solely when essential and to show the faucet off when not utilizing it. Outside water use between the hours of 4 p.m. and 10 a.m. remains to be
allowable at the moment and stays unaffected by the Drought Response Stage 1.
Officers from Newton County and EPD will proceed to observe environmental situations and decide if a rise within the drought response stage can be essential sooner or later.
