54 detained Pakistani nationals to be repatriated soon from Cambodia: FO Spox

Overseas Workplace Spokesperson Tahir Andrabi, Tuesday, stated that because of Pakistan Embassy’s efforts in Cambodia, the host authorities agreed to the early repatriation of 54 Pakistani nationals detained in Siem Reap Province.
 
“These people have been arrested following a raid on a scamming compound. Our Embassy workers are taking steps to make sure the welfare of the detained Pakistanis,” the spokesperson posted a press release on his X deal with in response to media questions relating to detained Pakistanis in Cambodia.
 
He stated the Pakistan Embassy in Cambodia actively pursued the matter with the Cambodian Authorities.
 
“That is in keeping with the directions of the Deputy Prime Minister/Overseas Minister to all Pakistan’s Missions that facilitating the Pakistani group overseas is a prime precedence,” he added.
 
The spokesperson additional posted that these detainees would depart Cambodia as quickly as flight preparations have been finalised, including as a goodwill gesture from the Cambodian authorities, the detainees can be repatriated with none authorized proceedings in opposition to them underneath the “Regulation on Combating On-line Scams”, which got here into impact on 7 April 2026, imposing important jail sentences and hefty fines.
