ADB backs ambitious student dormitory initiative in Kazakhstan’s Almaty

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, Might 11. A brand new pupil
dormitory challenge accommodating 5,900 college students will likely be carried out
in Almaty with the help of the Asian Improvement Financial institution (ADB),

Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Science and Greater Training.

The ministry has signed a consulting providers settlement with ADB
and Satbayev College to facilitate the implementation of the

entails the development of a pupil dormitory at Satbayev

ADB’s help will embody key challenge preparation levels,

documentation, and help for tender procedures.




Following the graduation of the tender course of, the challenge is
anticipated to turn out to be one of many first pilot initiatives beneath
Kazakhstan’s up to date Public-Non-public Partnership Regulation, adopted in
2025.

Satbayev College, considered one of Kazakhstan’s main technical
establishments, enrolls over 10,000 college students, roughly 80
% of whom are from regional areas. The college’s present
dormitory capability is restricted to roughly 2,300 locations, putting
important stress on the native rental housing market.

Kazakhstan has been a member of ADB since 1994. Over this
interval, the financial institution has supplied greater than $8 billion in loans,
grants, and technical help for precedence improvement initiatives,
together with infrastructure modernization and personal sector
growth.
