Court orders reports on Manusha Nanayakkara’s bank accounts

Colombo Chief Justice of the Peace Asanga S. Bodaragama has ordered 5 banks to submit detailed studies inside 14 days on 5 financial institution accounts belonging to former Minister Manusha Nanayakkara.

The order was issued yesterday (Might 11) to the managers of 5 banks, together with a state financial institution and personal banks. They’ve been directed to supply the studies to the Unlawful Property Investigation Division of the Prison Investigation Division (CID).

The court docket order was made after the Unlawful Property Investigation Division knowledgeable the Colombo Chief Justice of the Peace’s Courtroom that an investigation had been launched towards the previous Minister of Labour and International Employment underneath the Cash Laundering Act.

Investigating officers instructed the court docket that checking account data had been wanted for the continuing probe.

In response to the officers, the investigation was launched following a grievance made to the Unlawful Property Investigation Division by Kamantha Thushara, Chairman of the Citizen Energy In opposition to Bribery, Corruption and Waste organisation.

The grievance had requested an inquiry towards the previous minister underneath the Cash Laundering Act.

The officers additionally knowledgeable the court docket that asset and legal responsibility declarations for the years 2011, 2013, 2015, and 2022 had not been submitted.

Presenting info earlier than the Colombo Chief Justice of the Peace, the Unlawful Property Investigation Division mentioned court docket orders had been required to look at 5 financial institution accounts belonging to the suspect related to the investigation.
