Eight folks have been arrested by Agra police in reference to three separate circumstances wherein customers of friendship and relationship apps, widespread amongst members of the LGBTQ group, have been allegedly assaulted, extorted and blackmailed. Further deputy commissioner of police (crime) Himanshu Gaurav stated a criticism was lodged at Tajganj police station on Might 21 by a person who alleged that he had are available in contact with an unidentified individual by a relationship app on Might 19.

“The accused invited the sufferer to satisfy at a resort room in Agra the place 4 males have been already current. They held him hostage, assaulted him and threatened to kill him earlier than forcing him to switch ₹14,000 on-line by a QR code,” the ADCP stated.

He added that the identical group allegedly focused one other man on Might 20 utilizing an identical modus operandi and extorted ₹4,900 from him.

A case underneath sections 308(5) (extortion), 115(2) (voluntarily inflicting damage), 127(2) (wrongful confinement), and 351(3) (legal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered on the Tajganj police station groups have been constituted to hint and arrest the accused.

Police arrested 4 accused — Someshwar, Tarun and Saqib, all residents of Tajganj, and Shakeel, a resident of Jind in Haryana. Shakeel and Someshwar have earlier legal data involving theft and related extortion circumstances linked to relationship apps, the ADCP stated.

‘’A case underneath sections 61(2) (legal conspiracy), 309(6) (voluntarily inflicting damage for theft), 115(2) (voluntarily inflicting damage), 127(2) (wrongful confinement), 351(3) (legal intimidation) and 352 (intentional insult to impress breach of peace) of the BNS was registered at Ekta police station and the 4 accused have been arrested on Saturday,” the ADCP stated.

These arrested have been recognized as Suraj Thakur, Saurabh Yadav, Naman Yadav and Abhishek Yadav, all from villages underneath Ekta area in Agra. Police stated Saurabh, Abhishek and Naman have legal backgrounds.
