Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated Pakistan reiterated its steadfast dedication to additional strengthening international peace efforts by lively participation in United Nations peacekeeping missions.

He stated: “This 12 months’s observance is being commemorated beneath the theme, ‘Put money into Peace’, which underscores the crucial significance of sustained political dedication and monetary assist for the promotion of sturdy peace and the safety of human lives worldwide.

“The day additionally commemorates the institution of the United Nations Truce Supervision Organisation (UNTSO), the first-ever UN peacekeeping mission, which commenced operations in Palestine in 1948.

“Over the course of peacekeeping historical past, greater than two million women and men have served in over seventy UN peace missions all over the world. Pakistan stays among the many longest-serving and main contributors to United Nations peacekeeping operations. By means of their devoted service, troop-contributing international locations proceed to play a significant position within the upkeep of worldwide peace and safety, reflecting our collective dedication to peace as a shared international precedence,” he remarked.

The prime minister stated: “Since 1960, Pakistan has contributed greater than 235,000 personnel to over 48 UN peacekeeping missions, together with greater than 500 girls peacekeepers. It’s a matter of immense nationwide delight that Pakistan right this moment stands because the fifth-largest contributor to United Nations peacekeeping operations.
