The federal authorities on Friday launched a set tax scheme for small store house owners as a part of its ongoing efforts to increase tax assortment and doc the financial system.

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb introduced the scheme throughout a joint press convention with State Minister for Finance Bilal Azhar Kiani, outlining its key options and goals.

Talking on the event, Kayani mentioned the simplified scheme would apply to shopkeepers whose annual gross sales don’t exceed Rs200 million, saying the federal government was bringing the mounted tax framework to make it simpler for small merchants to fulfil their tax obligations.

“It is a one-page kind on which merchants will report the sale of their items,” Kayani mentioned, including that the scheme was being launched following consultations and calls for from merchants’ associations.

Outlining particulars of the initiative, Kayani mentioned that the scheme carries a set tax fee of 1%, whereas any withholding tax already deducted shall be adjusted in opposition to it.

He added that the minimal tax cost below the scheme could be Rs25,000, whereas companies with greater turnover would pay tax at 1% in accordance with their gross sales quantity.

The minister mentioned that each filers and non-filers may turn into a part of the scheme by submitting the required kind.

In line with Kayani, merchants searching for to learn from the programme should guarantee their tax cost is no less than equal to the earlier yr’s quantity.

The minister mentioned each dealer enrolled within the scheme would obtain a plate issued by the Federal Board of Income (FBR).
