Manila: The defence chief of the Philippines stated on Friday ​he would proceed to do ​his responsibility within the face of “wickedness” dedicated by China, ​a day after he was sanctioned by Beijing for what it described as repeated “faulty remarks”.

Ties between China and U.S. ally the Philippines have soured previously few years, with frequent ‌spats as ⁠Manila, beneath ⁠President Ferdinand Marcos Jr, pushes again at what it sees as aggression by Beijing. “That’s really what they do to those that converse the reality towards their deception,” Philippine Defence Secretary Gilberto Teodoro stated in an announcement on Friday.

“I ​will simply hold doing my responsibility and uphold ⁠our nation ‌within the face of the wickedness they’re committing right here ​and even ​in our seas,” Teodoro added.

China’s overseas ministry introduced sanctions on ⁠Thursday towards Teodoro and his shut family, saying he ​had “repeatedly made faulty remarks regarding China” which had undermined China’s ​official pursuits and bilateral ties.

Manila’s overseas ministry stated it considered the sanctions as an “unfriendly act that additional complicates bilateral relations.””Such measures don’t contribute to constructing mutual belief, managing variations responsibly, or creating the circumstances essential for constructive engagement between our two international locations,” it stated in an announcement late on ‌Thursday.
