
ROME — Tens of 1000’s of individuals marched by the streets of the Italian capital in rival anti- and pro- migration demonstrations Saturday, after a far-right residents’ initiative in search of sweeping measures in opposition to migrants garnered sufficient help to be dropped at Parliament. A petition by the initiative, named “Remigration and Reconquest,” gathered the 50,000 signatures wanted to set off parliamentary dialogue, pushing the once-fringe idea of “remigration” into the political mainstream.
