A coalition of Cambodian opposition events and civil society teams on Wednesday denied an Indian media report alleging they had been concerned in a $2 million funding proposal from the Nationwide Endowment for Democracy (NED), after the federal government cited the claims in a warning towards foreign-backed political exercise.

The Inside Ministry on Tuesday warned that political events accepting contributions from international entities might face authorized motion, citing a report revealed days earlier by Indian newspaper The Sunday Guardian.

The report, authored by journalist Abhinandan Mishra, cited what it described as a “confidential proposal” outlining a $2 million funding plan from the Washington-based NED to the Alliance In direction of the Future (ATF), an opposition coalition that features the Khmer Will Social gathering, Grassroots Democratic Social gathering, Cambodia Reform Social gathering, Kampuchea Niyum Social gathering and Candlelight Social gathering.
