A police constable who served as the phone operator on the Pitigala Police Station has been suspended with quick impact over allegations of dereliction of obligation, the Workplace of the Deputy Inspector Common of Police accountable for the Galle Division mentioned.
The Officer-in-Cost confirmed that the constable had falsely recorded that data from the suspect detention register had been entered into the A.M.I.S. knowledge system, which is used to transmit such data to police stations throughout the nation, on 26 June.
Following the OIC’s findings, the matter was reported to the Assistant Superintendent of Police.
Accordingly, Assistant Superintendent of Police Dilrukshi Algewatta visited the station and ordered the constable’s suspension with impact from at present (28).
