Srinagar Worldwide Airport on Saturday (July 4, 2026) withdrew its proposed Discover to Airmen (NOTAM) for full a runway closure to hold out repairs and upkeep, guaranteeing uninterrupted daytime flight operations this yr. In an operational replace posted on X, the airport mentioned there could be no full airfield closure throughout 2026.

“Passengers are suggested that there shall be no full airfield closure at Srinagar Airport this yr. Airport operations will proceed on all days with operational/watch hours from 0800 hrs to 1700 hrs. Evening closures for runway upkeep will proceed till October 2026,” it mentioned.

The airport added that the beforehand proposed NOTAM concerning full runway closure on Mondays and Tuesdays has been withdrawn.

“Airways will proceed to replace their schedules in accordance with the prevailing operational timings. Earlier, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) had determined to close the runway on Mondays and Tuesdays, from July, adopted by a fortnight-long closure in October, to undertake important upkeep work.

Final month, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah met Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Civil Aviation Minister Okay. Rammohan Naidu, and raised the difficulty of the closure of the runway with them. Mr. Abdullah recommended that if the Srinagar airport needed to be shut, the Awantipora airfield needs to be opened for civilian flights throughout the upkeep interval.

He additionally identified that October marks a peak vacationer season, significantly for guests from West Bengal, Gujarat and Maharashtra, when Kashmir’s iconic chinar timber flip golden-yellow.
