KARACHI: A mud storm accompanied by robust winds swept by way of Karachi on Saturday night time, decreasing visibility and briefly disrupting regular exercise in elements of the town.

In the meantime, gentle to reasonable rain was reported for a second consecutive day in elements of the port metropolis, together with Gulshan-e-Maymar and Gadap.

Pakistan Meteorological Division (PMD), earlier within the day, had stated that the rain-bearing clouds over Kirthar would transfer in the direction of Karachi. The Met workplace had forecast gentle rain with thunder within the metropolis.  

“Heavy rain of brief period can also happen at a number of locations,” the PMD had stated.

The mud storm hit Karachi a day after gentle to heavy rain was reported in a number of elements of the port metropolis, with the PMD predicting extra showers within the port metropolis over the weekend.

Heavy rain had lashed Shahrah-e-Faisal and its surrounding areas, whereas Sohrab Goth additionally obtained intense rainfall.

Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Part 6, North Nazimabad and Gulshan-e-Maymar, together with adjoining localities, had additionally witnessed rain throughout the spell, whereas gentle drizzle was reported on II Chundrigar Street and close by areas.

In response to the PMD, Surjani City had obtained the heaviest spell, with 5.5mm recorded. Different recorded rainfall included 5mm in Gulshan-e-Hadeed, 4mm in Keamari, 3.2mm in Nazimabad, 3mm at PAF Masroor, 2.6mm in Gulshan-e-Memar and 1mm in North Karachi.

Earlier, the PMD forecast widespread rain, windstorms and thundershowers, with remoted heavy falls, in southern and central elements of the nation from July 26 to 27.
