Earthquake with a depth of 187km strikes Afghanistan’s Hindu Kush area, tremors felt throughout elements of Pakistan

A 5.4-magnitude earthquake originating in Afghanistan’s Hindu Kush area jolted elements of Pakistan on Wednesday, with tremors felt in Islamabad, Peshawar and different areas of Khyber- Pakhtunkhwa, in response to the Pakistan Meteorological Division (PMD).

The PMD mentioned the earthquake was recorded at 12:51pm, with a depth of 187 kilometres. Its epicentre was situated within the Hindu Kush area of Afghanistan.

Tremors had been felt in Islamabad and its adjoining areas, in addition to Peshawar, Malakand and different districts of Okay-P, in response to experiences.

There have been no quick experiences of casualties or injury.

The USA Geological Survey (USGS), nevertheless, measured the earthquake at magnitude 5.3 and situated its epicentre 35 kilometres south-southwest of Jurm, Afghanistan.

Final week, a 4.0-magnitude earthquake struck Dalbandin in Balochistan, with its epicentre situated 100 kilometres southwest of the city.

Earlier in June, three folks had been injured after earthquake tremors had been felt in Balochistan’s Barkhan district and adjoining areas, inflicting concern and panic amongst residents.

In Could, a collection of gentle to average earthquakes jolted elements of the nation, with tremors felt in Islamabad, Balochistan’s Khuzdar district and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. No casualties or injury had been reported.
