In an indication of Sri Lanka’s solidarity with the folks of Nepal following the devastating floods and landslides which have brought about lack of life, displacement and widespread destruction, President Anura Kumara Disanayaka has directed the Authorities of Sri Lanka to offer a monetary contribution of US$ 1 million to Nepal to help its ongoing humanitarian and reduction efforts.
A press release issued by the Ministry of Overseas Affairs, Overseas Employment and Tourism, the President has expressed his deep sorrow on the tragic lack of lives and the struggling brought on by the catastrophe, and conveyed the heartfelt condolences of the Authorities and folks of Sri Lanka to the Authorities and folks of Nepal, notably to the households who’ve misplaced their family members.
Recalling the shut and longstanding bonds of friendship and solidarity between Sri Lanka and Nepal, the President emphasised that Sri Lanka stands firmly with the folks of Nepal on this hour of want. The monetary contribution is meant to help rapid reduction and humanitarian help to communities affected by the floods and landslides.
The assertion provides that the Authorities of Sri Lanka will stay engaged carefully with the Authorities of Nepal and proceed to discover acceptable avenues by way of which Sri Lanka can contribute to the reduction and restoration efforts.
