Brussels: The tried drone assault in Leipzig that has been attributed to Russia marks a brand new escalation on European soil and can solely strengthen the ‌EU’s resolve to enhance stress on Russia, European Fee President Ursula von der Leyen stated on Wednesday.

“This was an assault utilizing navy grade materials, carried out by Russian operatives on European Union soil,” von ‌der Leyen informed reporters in Brussels, including that there might have been a lack of life had it succeeded.

“Europe and NATO won’t simply preserve our stress on Russia. We are going to enhance it and we won’t cease.”

Von der Leyen stated ‌the incident was a part of “a broader sample of more and more harmful incidents”.

“Europeans are confronted with a tough reality that that is the brand new regular,” she stated. “We have now to step up.”
