Minister of Well being and Mass Media Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa participated within the presentation of the official recognition awarded to Sri Lanka for the 2 achievements within the nation’s well being sector.

Sri Lanka was acknowledged for sustaining the elimination of maternal and neonatal tetanus for 10 consecutive years by way of robust nationwide dedication, high-quality immunization providers and secure childbirth practices.

The nation was additionally acknowledged for sustaining its malaria-free standing for 10 consecutive years since receiving WHO certification in 2016.

WHO mentioned Sri Lanka’s continued malaria-free standing displays sustained nationwide dedication and vigilance to forestall the re-establishment of malaria within the nation.

The recognitions had been introduced by WHO Director-Basic Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus to well being ministers and heads of delegations through the regional session.
