Sri Lanka’s Division of Prisons is contemplating re-employing retired jail officers to handle the present scarcity of employees, Commissioner Normal of Prisons (Masking Up Duties) Prasad Hemantha Kumara stated.
He stated discussions are at the moment underway on the proposal, with consideration being given to bringing retired officers again into service as a potential answer to the scarcity.
In the meantime, the Division of Prisons stated inmates are anticipated to be transferred to the outdated Bogambara Jail subsequent week.
Based on the Commissioner Normal, round 90% of the renovation work on the jail has already been accomplished.
He added that jail officers are at the moment being assigned to the ability forward of the switch of inmates.
