After making a splash on the worldwide literary scene with the translations of her psychological feminist thrillers — “Butter” and “Hooked” — Asako Yuzuki has unexpectedly pivoted to kids’s literature.
“Mari the Unwonderful Witch,” revealed in Japan in 2023 and popping out in an English translation by Ecre Karadag on the finish of September, is described in promotional supplies as “cozy.” Don’t be deceived by the advert copy. The one cozy issues about it are the charming illustrations by Yukako Sakaguchi and the lovable cowl by Yuuki Jia. And everyone knows the previous adage about covers and judging them.
