BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 20. The World Judo
Championships for Veterans have begun in Sarajevo, the capital of
Bosnia and Herzegovina.
On the opening day of the competitors, Azerbaijan’s nationwide
crew gained one gold and three bronze medals within the M1 age
class.
Competing within the 100 kg weight class, Mammadali Mehtiyev
defeated all his opponents to develop into world champion.
Abulfat Ismayilov (60 kg), Mahir Abbasov (81 kg), and Joshgun
Abdullayev (90 kg) gained bronze medals.
Azerbaijan is represented by 30 judokas on the World
Championships.
