BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 23. Implementation
of the decree “On the Pardon of a Variety of Convicted Individuals,”
signed by President Ilham Aliyev, has
begun.
The decree has begun to be applied within the services of the
Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice.
Based on the decree, 19 people sentenced to
imprisonment and one particular person sentenced to restricted freedom
have been launched from the remaining portion of their
sentences.
The decree states that the choice relies on humanitarian
rules, bearing in mind petitions for clemency addressed to
the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan by quite a few
convicted people, their members of the family, the Human Rights
Commissioner (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, in addition to
bearing in mind the convicts’ private circumstances, their
state of well being, household state of affairs, the character and diploma of public
hazard posed by the crimes they dedicated, the size of time
already served, and their conduct throughout that interval.
